Steve Deacon is the President of Non Ferrous for EMR USA. EMR USA is a privately held scrap business with 80 yards, 4 export facilities, and 3 shredders that operates in more than 20 states throughout the U.S. Steve’s passion for the industry was born 14 years ago when he began working at Delco Metals, an industrial and demolition recycling firm in Philadelphia. While at Delco, Steve opened operated and substantially grew a public recycling facility (initially consisting of only a single small platform scale) in North Philadelphia which was ultimately acquired by EMR in 2008. After joining EMR, Steve briefly worked as an analyst and eventually served as Administrator of Non Ferrous for EMR’s eastern U.S. operation (Eastern Metal Recycling), overseeing both commercial and operations for the rapidly expanding region. In 2015, Steve became Chief Operating Officer of Eastern Metal Recycling during which he also launched EMR’s auto parts subsidiary, My Auto Store including facilitating the initial design and construction of My Auto Store’s proprietary vehicle dismantling facility in Camden, New Jersey.
Steve earned his Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University in 2005. He resides in Moorestown New Jersey with his wife Christin and their three children: Coleman (8), Emer (3), and Collins (1). Steve once broke 90 in a round of golf and enjoys coaching, playing and watching soccer.
