Robin Wiener

Robin K. Wiener joined ISRI in 1989 to direct the association’s environmental compliance activities. In 1997, she was appointed ISRI executive director, after serving as association assistant counsel and director of environmental compliance. In 2000, ISRI’s board conferred on her the title of president.

Wiener was appointed to the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Steel (ITAC-12) by the Secretary of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative and chairs the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) Advisory Board.

She also currently serves on the boards of Sustainable Electronics Recycling International, JASON Learning, and the National Recycling Coalition. She is a past chair of the National Association of Manufacturers Council of Manufacturing Associations, is a member of the Key Industry Associations Committee of the ASAE, and is a member of the U.S. Chamber Committee of 100. She is also a director of the International Environment Council of the Bureau of International Recycling, and a member of the BIR’s E-scrap Steering Committee. Wiener also serves on the steering committee of Electronics Recycling Asia.

An attorney and engineer, she earned a J.D. degree cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center and a B.S.E. degree in  chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She has done additional graduate study in environmental engineering at George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science. Wiener is a member of the New York and District of Columbia Bars. Her other professional affiliations include the American, New York, and D.C. Bar Associations and ASAE. She is the co-author of the RCRA Compliance & Enforcement Manual, published in 1994 by Shepard’s McGraw-Hill as part of its Environmental Law Series.

Prior to joining ISRI, Robin worked on environmental technical and policy issues for ICF Incorporated and Uniroyal, Inc. She has also worked for the Washington office of the law firm of Sidley and Austin.
