Representing the first “green” industry, ISRI takes its responsibility to recycle seriously. ISRI2020 is not only an opportunity to showcase the best of the recycling industry, but also some of the most innovative recycling practices in trade shows.

MGM, of which ISRI2020’s venue Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is part, operates its own Material Recovery Facility (MRF). All the material from the MGM Resorts, including from ISRI2020 attendees and exhibitors is processed at this facility. This has helped divert nearly 86,000 tons of material from landfills.

More Sustainability Efforts at MGM Las Vegas Resorts:

  • All of our Las Vegas resorts have a robust food waste program that diverts food scraps to a local pig farm and compost facility.
  • MGM resorts are lit by LEDs; the resorts have changed over 1.5 million lights to energy efficient LEDs.
  • MGM left its utility so it could increase use of renewable energy; and then commissioned a 100 megawatt solar array that will supply up to 90% of MGM’s daytime energy needs in Las Vegas.
  • MGM saved over 5B gallons of water by implementing a range of water management best practices.
  • Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, ARIA, Bellagio and the Mirage have an innovative food donations program through which unserved food from events is donated to people in need.
  • All of MGM Las Vegas resorts have operations that are Green Key certified at four or five Green Keys.
